Basaveshwar Commerce College is a part of B.V.V. Sangha, it was established in 1970 with 50 students. Within the span of four decades, the college has become predominant in the field of Commerce & Management Education.
The management of B.V.V. Sangha introduced P.G. course in Commerce in the academic year 2001-02 to cater to the needs of local students and the students from the surrounding area.
It is two-year, an intensive postgraduate course in finance and accounting and distributed over four semesters. This programme amplifies hand-on experiences. A comprehensive project work during the fourth semester is undertaken by students. The programme covers all major areas relating to Finance, Accounting, Costing and Taxation, besides allied fields such as economics, operation research, and International Financial Management.
All the faculty members are SET and M.Phil holders and have over 18 years of teaching experience. This is one of the esteemed programmes in the country. The Alumni of this programme are well placed across globally in the various streams of fields such as business, academics, and administration. More importantly, the alumni of our college are rendering their services as lecturers in the Department of Commerce and in the Corporate World. The programme serves the needs of academics and prepares students for research and teaching.
The motto of M.Com Department is to not only concentrate on curriculum but also on extracurricular activities and guide the students in overall personality development
The Department has organized International Conference on “Financial Inclusion in India” on 10 September 2016 for the first time. Prof. Miks C- Kellman, London, UK, has inaugurated and addressed the gathering. Over 301 Research Papers have been published in the Journal bearing ISSN 2454-6593 in 12 Volumes
