ELC:
Electoral Literacy Club is setup in the college to promote electoral literacy among students who are pursuing their graduation degrees. Students are involved through engaging and conducting interesting activities and hands-on experience in a political, neutral and non-partisan manner. The institution has an active electoral literacy club with active faculty members as nodal officers, brand ambassadors, and students as its members. The ELC’s are functional and organize many voter awareness programmes and activities in the college.
Nodal Officer:
Prof. C. A. Hiremath M.Com, (Ph.D) has been appointed as a Nodal Officer of the ELC. The Nodal Officer is active in conducting the voter’s awareness programmes in the institution.
Brand Ambassador:
Two of the faculty members, Prof. M. H. Jannappagol & Prof. Smt. V. R. Bendre have been appointed as brand ambassadors of the ELC and they assist the Nodal officer in planning, organising & properly conducting the Programmes in reagrd of the Electoral Literacy.
Members:
Some prominent students are taken as the conveners or members of the ELC and all other students are the members of ELC.
Objectives
- To educate the targeted populations about voter registration, electoral process and related matters through hands on experience;
- To help the target audience understand the value of their vote and exercise their voting right in a confident, comfortable and ethical manner
- To harness the potential of ELC members for carrying the electoral literacy in communities
- To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered
- To develop a culture of active participation in voting and eradicate unethical voting and follow the principle 'Every vote counts' and 'No Voter to be Left Behind'
