The library is an important social Institution, serving society in several ways. It has various functions including Educational, informational, economic and cultural aspects. A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital access to material and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both.
A library may have collections of printed materials like books, Periodicals, journals, newspapers, maps, manuscripts, and microforms, etc and E-resources like E-books, E-journals, E-databases, and other formats.
Our Library
Basaveshwar Commerce College has well equipped library. It spreads in built in area of 3,700 sq.feet with seating capacity of 180 Students. There is a separate research space for the faculty. The collection includes 39,255 books, 6063 reference books, 1,95,000+ e-books 6,000+ e-journals. Apart from the printed books the library is having access to e-resources of n-list which is a part of e-shodhsindhu consortium of INFLIBNET where the user is given awareness and made to access, browse & download e-books, e-journals, database etc.
The Library is well equipped with INFLIBNET, Bar-coding scanner, OPAC Machine. There is a separate e-zone area provided with 5 computers systems and one Xerox machine. There is a computer system & a printer on the table of Librarian. The Internet speed is 100 MBPS in the library.

Code of Conduct
1. Users must carry their ID cards to the library. Users may not refer to, or borrow books without ID cards.
2. ID cards are non-transferable.
3. Users are requested to maintain silence in the library.
4. The library reading area should be used only for academic purpose.
5. All cell phones should be switched off in the library; any violation will attract confiscation of the cell phones.
6. Users are prohibited from listening to music or watching movies on their laptops and cell phones inside the library.
7. Persistent defaulters of various library rules will have their library services suspended.
Circulation criteria
- Two books are issued for B.Com students, four books for BBA students and three books for PG students at a time.
- Books are issued for a period of 15 days and the same can be renewed only once.
- Meritorious Students, SC/ST Students & Physically handicapped Students will be issued extra two Books.
- Reference books and journals will not be issued out of the Library.
