SC ST Cell
SC/ST Minority Cells work in conjunction with RCUB (RANI CHANNAMMA UNIVERSITY BELAGAVI) in our College. The major purpose is to bring the students of the minority community at par with the mainstream student body. Teachers with expertise and specialized knowledge are invited to offer classes and help students in subjects like Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Economics and Statistics, etc.
Cell Nature & Activities
The Cell is committed to assisting the SC/ST & minority students through counseling, personality development, development of communication skill, remedial coaching, tutorial classes, and preparatory classes for professional and employment purposes, etc. The Cell is actively engaged in coordinating and resolve the problems in the matter of conduct of remedial coaching and other measures with a view to seeing that the education system succeeds in bringing the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and minorities to a level quantitatively as well as qualitatively indistinguishable from the level of the rest of the society. The cell is going to organize several educational Schemes, which are as follows:
Orientation Programme in English Language
This Programme is to be organized with a view to improving academic skill in the English Language.
Orientation Programme in Business Mathematics & Statistics
This Programme is to be organized with a view to developing academic proficiency in Business Mathematics & Business Statistics.
Orientation Programme in Accounting ( for non commerce students)
This Programme is to be organized for non-commerce students for giving a general idea on basic accounting at the preliminary level.
Personality Development & Communication Skill
The basic objective of this scheme is to improve personality development & communication skill in competing in the practical field.
Remedial Coaching
Remedial Coaching is to be organized with a view to (a) improving academic skills of the students in various subjects, (b) raising their level of comprehension of basic subjects to provide a stronger foundation for further academic work, (c) strengthening their knowledge, skills, and attitudes in such subjects.’
Coaching Classes for entry in Government services,
The basic objective of the coaching scheme is to help students to get gainful employment in Central services, State services or equivalent positions in the private sector. The coaching under the scheme should be oriented for particular examinations conducted for selection to services, such as the IAS, State Public Services, Bank recruitment, SSC, etc.
Coaching for NET/SLET
The main objective of the scheme is to train students for appearing in NET or SET so that a sufficient number of candidates becomes available for selection of Assistant Professor in the College/University system from these groups.
Location
The SC/ST Cell is located at B.V.V.Sangha’s Basaveshwar Commerce College, Bagalkot, SC/ST Cell has been set up in the college to ensure proper implementation of various schemes of UGC, Government of India and State Govt. concerning scholarships, stipends, etc. for the welfare of reserved categories. The guidelines, for various types of scholarship/ stipends as revised from time to time by the Central and State Govts. Are notified and displayed on the Notice Boards. This Cell ensures that these guidelines are strictly adhered to. It also monitors implementation of reservation roster
